Springburn Cottage is where we live. It's a detached house about half a mile past the phone box on the way to Glendale. We designed and built it ourselves.
It sleeps four. Two bedrooms, both en-suite. It's got a 4 Star rating, which is fair. It's modern, clean and warm. The views are the main thing. You look straight down the glen and out towards the Minch. On a clear day you can see the Outer Hebrides.
It's enclosed. There's a gravel garden area at the front and a patio at the back. The land around is mostly sheep. You get one parking space right outside.
Inside it's open plan. Kitchen, living area, dining table. There's underfloor heating, a washing machine, dishwasher, a TV and WiFi. We've never had trouble with the signal. The stairs to the bedrooms are open-tread, so maybe think about that if you have very small children.
You can bring one well-behaved dog. The garden is enclosed but a determined dog could get out if it really wanted to. Please keep dogs off the furniture.
Location wise, you're about a mile from the coast. There's a track down to the shore, but it's rocky. For a proper beach, you'd drive. Glendale is a few miles away. It has a couple of seasonal cafes and craft shops. The shop is half a mile back up the road for basics. The nearest pub is in Dunvegan, about seven miles.
Neist Point lighthouse is four miles away. It's a good walk. Dunvegan Castle is about twenty minutes by car. The coral beaches are out that way too. Portree is maybe forty-five minutes for bigger shops or a meal out.
If you're here to walk, you're in the right place. You can just head out from the door. For boat trips to see eagles or seals, you'd book from Portree or Elgol.
