Husabost Croft

This is Husabost Croft, out at Totaig on Skye. It's a detached cottage, an old croft house that’s been extended. Sleeps four, two bedrooms, both doubles, and two bathrooms. One ensuite, one family bathroom. We take two well-behaved dogs.

The place is a bit unusual inside. You come in the front door into the original part of the cottage, which is the first living room. It has an open fire. Through a door there, you walk into the big extension. That’s got the kitchen, dining space and a second living area all in one L-shaped room. The view from there is the best one. Patio doors go out to the garden.

The bathroom upstairs has a bath positioned right in front of the window, so you can look out at the sea while you’re in it. It's a good view.

The garden is enclosed. It's typical Highland ground though, so it can be soft and damp. Wellies are handy.

It’s quite remote. The nearest pub is about seven miles away in Dunvegan. The shop is much further, nearly thirty miles, so you’ll want to bring your supplies with you. There’s a restaurant about three miles away.

The location is the main thing. You’re looking out over the sea towards Coral Beach. You can see Dunvegan Castle from here in the right light, and the Cuillin mountains in the distance. You can walk from the door onto the moor. Glendale is a short drive for a café. Neist Point lighthouse is not far for sunset. Dunvegan Castle is worth a visit if you like that sort of thing. Coral Beach is a must, you often see seals there.

For facilities, it’s got what you’d expect. TV, internet, washing machine, dishwasher. Bedding and towels are in. Parking for a couple of cars right outside. There’s an enclosed patio area with furniture, and a bigger, wilder garden beyond it.
