Heron's Rest is a cottage in Glen Dale on the Isle of Skye. It's detached, so you're on your own. It sleeps two, one bedroom, one bathroom. It's got a 3 Star rating, so it's clean and has what you need, but it's not luxury.
The main thing is the view. You look east to Macleod's Tables, which are those flat topped hills, and west over Loch Pooltiel to the sea. The light changes all day. You can sit and watch that for hours.
You're about a five minute walk from the shore. It's pebbly and rocky, not a sandy beach. Good for a wander.
It's very rural. The nearest shop is about a mile and a half away. The closest pub is nine miles, and a restaurant is four miles. You'll want a car. You can park right outside the cottage.
If you're active, it's a good spot. Mountain biking, climbing, kayaking. You can fish in the loch. For days out, Dunvegan Castle is nearby. Portree is the main town, about a half hour drive. Talisker Distillery is down that way too if you like whisky. The south of the island is greener, they call it the Garden of Skye. Armadale Castle is there.
Inside, it's open plan downstairs. There's a woodburning stove, which is good for the evenings. It's got a TV, WiFi, a washing machine. Bedding and towels are included. You can bring up to two dogs.
