Garradh An Fhasaich is our place in Glen Dale on Skye. It's a detached cottage, attached to our smallholding. The name means 'Garden of the Wilderness' in Gaelic, which fits.
There's one main thing about it. It's on about nine acres of land we've planted up over the years. There are paths through it. It's not a fancy garden, it's a bit wild. You can see a lot of birds. From a bench by the house, you look down through your own bit of woodland to the river, and out to sea. You can see the Outer Hebrides on a clear day.
The cottage itself sleeps three. Three bedrooms, but one bathroom. It's got a 3 Star rating. It's comfortable, but it's an old cottage. The kitchen door opens straight out to the garden. There's an open fire in the living room. We leave the wood for it.
You feel very private there. It's set down off the road, surrounded by trees. The garden isn't fully fenced, but the whole plot has a deer fence around it. It's very quiet.
You can bring two dogs. They'll like the space.
For getting out, Neist Point Lighthouse is about ten minutes away by car. There's a village shop a mile away. Dunvegan, where you'll find more shops and the castle, is seven miles. The famous spots like the Old Man of Storr and the Quiraing are about half an hour's drive.
Facilities are what you'd expect. Washing machine, TV, WiFi, parking right there. Bedding and towels are included. We've got a cot and highchair if you need them. The entrance is wheelchair accessible.
