Feriniquarrie

Feriniquarrie is up in Glendale, on Skye. It’s a detached cottage, an old ‘long house’. It’s at the end of a track, near some crofts.

It sleeps five, but it’s only got two bedrooms, just to be clear. There’s a double bed in one room, which has its own shower room. Then there’s another small bedroom with a single bed. The sofa in the living room pulls out into a double bed for two more people. There’s also a main bathroom with a shower.

It’s all on one floor, which is handy. There’s a wood burner in the living room. The kitchen has the basics. The garden is enclosed, which is good if you bring a dog. It’s quiet. You get views over the croftland towards the loch. Sunsets are good.

The shore is about a five minute walk. You might see otters or seabirds there.

Facilities-wise, it’s got what you’d expect: washing machine, dishwasher, WiFi, TV. Bedding and towels are included. There’s parking right outside.

You can bring one well-behaved dog.

The local shop is about a mile and a half away in Glendale. The nearest pub is nine miles, so you’ll want to plan for that. There’s a restaurant about three miles away.

For things to do, you’re on Skye, so it’s all about the landscape. Neist Point lighthouse is a short drive for a good walk. Dunvegan Castle is about half an hour back towards Portree. Portree itself is around 45 minutes by car if you need more shops or a bigger supermarket.

Useful links if you’re planning: Isle of Skye and National Trust for Scotland. The Trust doesn’t have much on Skye itself, but their Glencoe page is good for general Highland info.
