Hope Cottage

Hope Cottage is on the edge of Knighton, about a two minute drive from the actual town centre. It's a detached old stone place, just the one. You're on a quiet lane, with just fields behind it.

It's for two people only. One bedroom, one bathroom. It's got a 4 Star rating, which I think just means it's been done up well. It's comfortable. There's a wood burner in the lounge for cooler nights.

You've got your own little walled garden with patio furniture. The parking is right there.

Inside there's a shower, a TV, wifi, a washing machine. All the bedding and towels are included. We let you bring one dog.

The location is the main thing. Knighton itself is a proper old market town. It's on Offa's Dyke Path, so it's full of walkers. There are a couple of pubs, cafes, and a Co-op for basics. The town's got that steep, narrow street look you'd expect.

You're right on the border here. In about twenty minutes you can be in Clun, which is tiny but has a castle ruin. Or Ludlow, which is bigger, has a proper castle, good food shops and a racecourse. Bishop's Castle is about the same distance the other way, it's a small town with a brewery.

If you want a day out walking, the Shropshire Hills are all around. The Carding Mill Valley area is about half an hour's drive. For a historic house, Attingham Park is near Shrewsbury, which is just under an hour. The Offa's Dyke Path website is useful for walk planning.

By the time you read this online, I'll probably be in my kitchen. If you book it, the key's in a box by the door. I'll leave the lights on for you.
