Waterside Lodge Three
This is Waterside Lodge Three, in Elland. It's a wooden lodge on the side of a lake. You get a deck right out over the water, which is nice for a morning coffee.
It sleeps eight. There are four bedrooms and three bathrooms, so it works for a couple of families or a group. The rating is 4 Star. It's clean and well kept. It's split over three floors. The steepest bit is the internal stairs up to the living area. The main bedroom on the ground floor opens right out onto the deck.
You're in Ashgrove Country Park, which is about 40 acres of woods and lakes. It's quiet. There's a lake-view bar and restaurant about half a mile down the road. Elland town centre is five minutes in the car for shops. Brighouse is about the same.
Halifax is ten minutes away. The Piece Hall there is worth a visit. So is Shibden Hall, if you've seen Gentleman Jack. For kids, Eureka! is about a fifteen minute drive.
You can get the train from Brighouse station, which is handy. It goes to Hebden Bridge, Halifax, Leeds and Manchester. Haworth, where the Brontës lived, is about half an hour's drive. Both the Yorkshire Dales and the Peak District are under an hour.
What's here: the lodge has a washing machine, dishwasher, wifi and TV. Bedding and towels are included. There's a wood burning stove. There's parking right outside. You can bring up to two dogs. There's a cot and highchair if you need them.
