Red Gable Cottage
Red Gable Cottage is on the main street in Shap. It's a stone end-terrace cottage. It's just for two people, one bedroom up, one bathroom down.
It's got a 4 Star rating. That means it's been fitted out well. The entrance and doorways are all wheelchair accessible, which isn't common around here. Inside is all open plan, so it feels quite spacious for a small place.
The garden is out the back. It's enclosed, so it's private. You get the sun in the afternoon.
You're right on the eastern edge of the Lake District National Park here. Shap is handy because you can get to the Lakes, the Dales, or up towards Carlisle without too much driving. Ullswater is about a twenty minute drive. Haweswater is a bit closer. There's a golden eagle viewpoint up there if that's your thing.
In the village, there's a shop, a couple of pubs, and a restaurant all a couple of minutes' walk away. There's also an outdoor heated swimming pool that's open in the summer. The Pennine Way goes through the village if you're a serious walker.
In the cottage you've got a washing machine, WiFi, and parking for one car right outside. All the bedding and towels are included. No pets, I'm afraid.
