The Den
The Den is a small lodge near a place called Etteridge. It's not far from a main road, the A9, so it's easy to get to. It's detached on a site with a few other holiday homes.
It sleeps four. Two bedrooms upstairs, one bathroom. You can bring up to two dogs. It's got a 4 Star rating, so it's finished nicely.
Inside, it's open plan. Lots of windows and a patio door that opens onto a big deck. The deck looks out towards the Cairngorms.
The front door and the main living area are all on one level, which is helpful for access. The stairs inside are pretty standard.
The site has a shared play park for kids. There's a fair bit of shared land around for walking dogs straight from the door. If you have your own horse, you can arrange stabling with the farm next door.
Newtonmore is the closest village, a few miles away. It's got a supermarket, a couple of pubs and places to eat.
Location is the main thing. It's very central in the Highlands. You're on the edge of the Cairngorms National Park. A monument marking the exact centre of Scotland is a short walk down the lane.
From the cottage, you can get to a lot in about half an hour. Aviemore is close for the Cairngorm Mountain railway. Kingussie has a local history museum. Loch an Eilein is a good spot for a walk. For a longer day out, Fort William and Ben Nevis are west, and Inverness is east. Both are about an hour's drive.
Facilities: there's a dishwasher, washing machine, WiFi, and TV. Bedding and towels are included. There's a cot and highchair if you need them. Parking is right outside.
