The Bakehouse At Caman House

The Bakehouse is next to our house in Newtonmore. It's detached, so it's just for you. It used to be the old bakehouse, hence the name.

It's for two people. One bedroom, one bathroom. The living area is open plan. It gets the sun in the morning. There's a wood burner for chilly evenings. The fixtures are decent. I'd give it a solid four star, it's comfortable.

The bedroom has a double bed. There's also a sofa bed in there if you need it, but the place is really best for just two. The bathroom is a good size with a shower.

You get a small private garden area. There's an electric vehicle charger if you need it. We've got a secure bike store for four bikes, but you need to book it in advance. It's for the Bakehouse or the other apartment, not both at once.

Newtonmore is a proper Highland village. There's a pub about 300 yards away, and a shop and restaurant about 500 yards. It's very quiet here.

We're right in the Cairngorms National Park. You can walk or cycle straight from the door. The River Spey is close by if you fish. In winter, you're about half an hour from the ski slopes at Cairngorm Mountain. Aviemore is a 15 minute drive for more shops and things like the leisure pool. Inverness is about 45 minutes away.

For facilities, it has pretty much everything: WiFi, TV, washing machine, dishwasher. Bedding and towels are included. We can provide a cot. One well-behaved dog is welcome.

If you're planning trips, the Cairngorms National Park Authority website is useful. For longer days out, the west coast with places like Arisaig is a good couple of hours drive, but it's a stunning trip if you've got the time.
