The Byre

The Byre is in Newtonmore. It's a detached cottage, built on the site of the old village dairy. It sleeps four, in two bedrooms, and both rooms have their own bathrooms.

It's got a 4 Star rating. It's well done, comfortable and clean. The main living area downstairs is open plan. There's a wood burner. The kitchen has a dishwasher and a washing machine. You can get out to the deck through the patio doors. The deck is south facing and secluded, good for sitting out.

Upstairs, the main bedroom has a kingsize bed and an en-suite bathroom with a roll-top bath and a separate shower. The twin room has its own en-suite shower room. Both have TVs.

There's an electric vehicle charger on site. Parking isn't a problem.

A couple of things to know. The stairs are open and a bit steep. And one well-behaved dog is welcome. There's a small enclosed lawn at the front.

Location wise, you're right in the village. You can walk to the shops and pubs. The Co-op is well-stocked. There are a few places to eat, some pubs, cafes, and a takeaway.

The view from the back looks over the golf course to the Cairngorms. You get red squirrels in the garden. The Wildcat Trail, a 10km loop, starts practically from the door.

For wider trips, the Cairngorms National Park is on your doorstep. Aviemore is about a 15 minute drive. Kingussie is just down the road. If you're into history, the Highland Folk Museum in Newtonmore is worth a visit. You're well placed for walking, cycling, or fishing.
