Allt Na Criche is a cottage at Gaskbeg Farm near Balgowan. You’re at the west edge of the Cairngorms National Park. The view from the front is over the valley and hills. It’s the same pair of hills you see in all the photos from around here. They look good in summer and they’re often snow-covered in winter.
It sleeps four. Two bedrooms. One is a double, the other can be either a double or two singles, just let me know. There’s one bathroom, which is a wet room on the ground floor. The whole place has underfloor heating, which is nice. The kitchen has a dishwasher and washing machine. There’s a separate dining room and a small sitting room.
The garden is enclosed, so it’s private. It’s quiet out there. The cottage is named after the burn that runs past it. Allt Na Criche means ‘boundary burn’. It flows into the Allt Bronach, which is the ‘sad burn’. There’s another cottage next door called Allt Bronach. You can book both together if you’re a group of eight.
You’re well placed here. Aviemore is about half an hour east, Fort William is about half an hour west. The Laggan Wolftrax mountain bike centre is basically on your doorstep, just a few minutes down the road. You can walk straight from the cottage onto local paths.
Facilities are included: Wi-Fi, TV, bedding, towels, parking. Heating and electricity are in the price. It’s got a 4 Star rating.
