Moorhen Cottage

Moorhen Cottage is in Hollingbourne village, near Maidstone. It's one of three holiday places on a country estate, set back off the road. You're in proper countryside here, in the Kent Downs.

It's a detached cottage and sleeps six. Three bedrooms, two bathrooms. It's got a 4 Star rating. It's been done up to a good standard, comfortable but not over the top.

The main bedroom has a king-size bed and a roll-top bath in the room. The other two bedrooms are a double and twins. They share a bathroom. The stairs are normal, not a spiral or anything.

Outside, you have your own patio with a table and a BBQ. It looks out over one of the estate's lakes. The grounds are large and shared, so you can walk around. There's a shared heated swimming pool, open seasonally, and a games room with pool and table tennis.

The kitchen has a dishwasher and a washing machine. Bedding and towels are included. There's a cot and a highchair if you need them. The entrance is wheelchair accessible and there's parking right by the cottage.

You can walk to two pubs from here, both decent. There's a local shop about a mile away. For a bigger shop, you'd drive into Hollingbourne or Maidstone.

For things to do, Leeds Castle is very close. It's a proper day out. The coast at Whitstable is about 35 minutes by car. You can walk straight onto the North Downs Way from the estate if you like hiking. The M20 is nearby if you want to head further into Kent.

You can bring one dog. If you've got more people, you can book the cottage next door as well.
