Low West
Low West is our cottage in Hexham. It's a traditional stone house down a quiet lane, about a mile's walk from the town centre.
It sleeps four, in two bedrooms. One bathroom. It's got a 3 Star rating. I think that means it's comfortable and well-equipped, but not luxurious. The garden is south-facing, which is nice on a sunny day.
You can bring up to two dogs. There's parking on the drive. All the bedding and towels are included. There's a washing machine, a dishwasher, wifi, and a wood burner for the evenings.
Hexham itself is a proper historic market town. There's a good mix of shops, pubs that do food, and a few restaurants. It's a good base. You can get to the sports centre for swimming, or there's fishing and riding nearby.
For a day out, Kielder Water is about half an hour's drive. It's huge. Newcastle's about the same distance the other way if you want a city or the train. The Scottish Borders are easy to get to from here.
If you're keen on walking or history, you're well placed. The Northumberland National Park is right there, and Hadrian's Wall is all around this area.
