The Bothy is a cottage on the Groves Estate near Staple. It's detached, so no shared walls. It was built for the estate a long time ago, used to be for the gardener and carts. Now it's a holiday let.
It sleeps four people. There are two bedrooms and one bathroom. The rating is 3 Star. It's comfortable and clean, not modern luxury. It's an old building, so mind your head on the beams if you're tall. The stairs are normal cottage stairs.
The garden is private and enclosed, which is good if you're bringing dogs. You can have up to two dogs. There's a patio area too.
Inside, there's an open fire. We provide logs for it. There's a washing machine, a dishwasher, and a TV. The Wi-Fi works, but it can be a bit patchy sometimes because it's a rural spot. It's fine for emails, but streaming can be hit and miss.
For facilities, you've got bedding and towels included, a cot and a highchair if needed, and parking right by the cottage.
There's a pub in Staple village, about a mile away. They do food. The nearest shop is a couple of miles, in Wingham. Wingham is nice, it's only two miles up the road.
Sandwich is about six miles away. It's an old town by the river, full of historic buildings, and it's not far from some beaches. Canterbury is roughly a twenty minute drive. It's got the cathedral, shopping, and plenty of places to eat. You can get to the Eurotunnel for France in under half an hour from here too.
It's good walking country. You can start from the door. The cottages on the estate are quiet and spread out. If you need more space, this place can be booked together with Gamekeeper's Cottage next door.
