Heron Lodge
Heron Lodge is a timber lodge we built ourselves overlooking the lake. It's detached, so it's just you and the view.
It's advertised as sleeping three, but really it's best for one couple. There's one bedroom up on a mezzanine, so it's open plan. You can see the living area from the bed. And the stairs up to it are steep, like a ship's ladder. There's one proper bathroom with a shower on the ground floor.
The main thing is the setting. You're here for the lake and the quiet. Big windows look straight out over the water. We see herons and kingfishers. You have a private deck with a hot tub and a BBQ area.
You're on a fifty-acre smallholding with two lakes. You can walk around our land. For a proper beach, you want Pembrey Country Park. It's about a 15-minute drive. They've got a long sandy beach, woods, and a toboggan run. Pembrey Country Park.
The local village, Five Roads, has a shop and a pub serving food about two miles away. Ffos Las racecourse is three miles if that's your thing. Laugharne, where Dylan Thomas lived, is about a 25-minute drive. The Gower Peninsula is roughly 40 minutes away. Visit Wales has information on the Gower.
Facilities: there's Wi-Fi, a TV, parking right outside. Bedding and towels are included. We can provide a cot and highchair. It has a 4 Star rating. No pets, sorry.
