Y Beudy Bach is a detached cottage near Pontyberem. It used to be a cow shed, which is what the name means. We live next door in the main house. We've done it up to a good standard, hence the five star rating, but it's not a show home. It's solid and clean.
It sleeps six. Three bedrooms, two bathrooms, one of which is a wet room on the ground floor. That's useful if stairs are difficult. The stairs inside are not steep, they're modern.
The main living area is all open plan. There's a big farmhouse table, a range cooker, and a galley kitchen. It's a good space if you're all in together. There's a washing machine, dishwasher, wifi, and TV. Bedding and towels are included. There's a cot and highchair if needed. Sorry, no pets.
You have your own garden and parking. The village shop and a pub are about an 800 yard walk. They're fine for basics. For a bigger shop, Carmarthen or Llanelli are a 15 minute drive.
The coast is about 15 minutes away by car. Ferryside beach is good for swimming and kayaking. In summer you can get a boat from there over to Llansteffan. Visit Wales coast guide has more ideas.
Kidwelly Castle is 10 minutes away. It's a very well preserved Norman castle. Cadw website for Kidwelly Castle. Pembrey Country Park is about 20 minutes. It has a huge beach, Cefn Sidan Sands, and a dry ski slope. Ffos Las racecourse is nearby too.
You can get to the Gower Peninsula or Tenby in under an hour for a day out. Laugharne, where Dylan Thomas lived, is about 40 minutes. You can see his writing shed and his local pub there.
A note about us: we run a hair and beauty salon from our part of the building. You might see clients coming and going during the day, weekdays mainly. It's separate from the cottage. If you wanted to book any treatments while you're here, you can ask us directly.
