The Garden Wing At Mount Ephraim

This is The Garden Wing at Mount Ephraim, our bit of the main house. It sleeps twelve, has six bedrooms and two bathrooms. It's got a 5 Star rating, which means it's quite a nice, comfortable place.

The house is Victorian and the wing is part of the main building, but you have your own front door. The kitchen and dining area is open plan and big enough for everyone to be in. There’s a sitting room with a wood burner, a smaller snug, and a separate games room with a full-size snooker table.

It's set in about 10 acres of gardens. There’s a rose garden, a Japanese garden, a lake, all sorts. The gardens are open to the public sometimes, but outside those hours you have them to yourselves. The views from the bedrooms are all over the grounds and fields.

A couple of things to be aware of plainly. It is a family home and business, so the owners or staff might be around elsewhere in the house. They also host weddings on the estate. There won't be a wedding during your stay, but there might be a marquee up on the lawn, or people doing show rounds. It's a working place.

You're near Boughton under Blean. There are two pubs in the village that allow dogs. Faversham's about ten minutes’ drive, that’s a good market town. Whitstable, for the harbour and oysters, is maybe twenty minutes. Canterbury is about twenty minutes too, for the cathedral and the city centre.

For facilities: parking on site, WiFi, a dishwasher, washing machine, a cot and highchair if you need them. All bedding and towels are included. You can bring up to two dogs.

They do private afternoon teas here you can book, using local produce. They can also recommend chefs if you wanted a meal cooked in the house.

If you're planning days out, these sites are useful: National Trust South East, Visit Kent, and for Canterbury specifically, Canterbury City Council.
