Escowbeck House is our place in Caton. It's a big Victorian house, detached, built in 1842. It sleeps eight people in five bedrooms. There are two bathrooms. It's got a 4 Star rating.
The house is tall, with proper original features like mahogany doors and parquet floors. It feels solid. The windows are big and you get good views over the garden. There's a wood burner in the main living room.
A couple of things to know: the stairs are a feature. They're the original servants' stairs, so they're steep and a bit narrow in places. There's also a loft room you get to via a separate staircase, which has a single bed in it. It's fine for a kid or a teenager who wants a bit of space.
The garden is large and private. There's a hot tub at the back. You can bring two dogs.
Caton village is a short drive, or a decent walk, down the hill. It's got a couple of shops, a café, and two pubs. The River Lune is right there for walks. You're in the Crook O' Lune area, which is very nice for cycling or fishing.
Location wise, you're about 15 minutes from Lancaster. Morecambe beach is about 6 miles. The M6 is close, so you can get to the Lake District like Windermere, or the Yorkshire Dales, in under an hour. Lake District National Park and Yorkshire Dales National Park have good visitor sites for planning.
Inside, it's got what you'd need: a washing machine, dishwasher, wifi, TV, all bedding and towels are included. Parking is on the drive.
