The Shippon

The Shippon is just outside Gressingham village. It's a single-storey cottage, so everything's on the ground floor. It's one of two cottages on the lane, but they're separate.

It’s a 5 Star place, which means it's been done up to a high standard. It's for two people. One bedroom, one bathroom with a walk-in shower. It’s open plan, so the living, kitchen and dining area is all one room.

The main thing is the doors open straight out onto a private, enclosed patio with a bit of a garden. It gets the sun in the evening. You get a view across the fields.

It's all wheelchair friendly from the parking spot to the entrance and through the main living space. The shower is walk-in. There aren't any steps.

Gressingham has a pub, The Fighting Cocks, which is about a ten-minute walk down the lane. They do food. The nearest shop is in Hornby, a couple of miles away.

You're about eight miles from the coast at Morecambe Bay. It's a good, flat drive. Lancaster is even closer, maybe fifteen minutes by car. That's where you'll find the castle and the main shops. The Forest of Bowland is right behind you for walks. It's an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

The facilities are all there: dishwasher, washing machine, TV, Wi-Fi. Parking is right outside. You can bring one dog. Bedding and towels are included.

If you're looking for things to do, these sites are useful: Forest of Bowland, Lancaster Castle, and National Trust Morecambe Bay.
