Tyan Gatebeck

Tyan is a lodge on Holmescales Campsite, near Gatebeck. It's about fifteen minutes from Kendal. The views are good, out over the fields. You get a wraparound patio and a hot tub.

It sleeps four. There are two double beds. One's on a mezzanine floor you get to by a ladder. The other is on the ground floor behind a partition. One bathroom with a shower. It's a five star rating, so it's well finished and has everything you need.

It's open plan downstairs. There's a kitchenette, a sofa, a TV. It's compact but they've used the space well. You can bring one dog.

The campsite has an activity centre on site with quad biking and clay shooting. You need to book that in advance and they give guests a discount.

Kendal is the nearest proper town for shops and cafes. From there, you're right on the edge of the Lake District. Windermere is about a twenty minute drive. Good walking from there, or you can go a bit further to places like Ambleside and Grasmere.

For local walks and days out, the Lake District National Park site is useful. The National Trust also looks after a lot of the land and houses around here.

Facilities are all there: WiFi, parking, towels, a dishwasher. There's a golf course locally and you can go horse riding nearby too.
