Drumlins Cottage is next to our house, here in Summerlands. It’s a ground-floor cottage, all on one level, so the access is good. The doors are wide. It’s for two people.
It’s got a three-star rating. That means it’s comfortable and clean, but not luxury. One bedroom, one bathroom with a shower. The kitchen has what you need, including a dishwasher and washing machine.
The garden is yours to use. It’s private and looks out over the fields towards the Drumlins, which are those little rounded hills. The view is nice. You can sit out there.
We’re about a mile from a shop and a pub. The pub does food. A restaurant is about a mile and a half away.
Location is the main thing here. You’re right between a few different places. The Lake District is about a twenty-minute drive west. You can be at Lake Windermere quickly. Lake District National Park.
Go east and you’re in the Eden Valley in maybe fifteen minutes. It’s quieter over there, proper countryside.
North from here is Hadrian’s Wall country. Lots of Roman history. English Heritage has the details. Or you can drive north-east into the Westmorland Dales, which is part of the Yorkshire Dales. That’s maybe half an hour.
The facilities are listed. We include bedding and towels. There’s parking right outside. You can bring up to two dogs. We have a cot and highchair if you need them. There’s bike storage too.
The nearest beach is about nine miles, but that’s the Solway coast, so it’s more about big skies and sandflats than swimming. For a proper swim, you’d want the Lakes.
