Steppe Haugh
Steppe Haugh is a house in Hawes. It’s a big, stone-built cottage right on the edge of the village. The main road runs past the front but the garden and views are out the back, over fields.
It sleeps seven in four bedrooms. Each bedroom has its own bathroom, which is unusual. One has a bath, the others are showers. The master bathroom has two stone sinks. The stairs are standard for a place like this.
It’s a 5 Star place, so it’s very well equipped. The owners live here in the winter, so everything is good quality and it has things like underfloor heating, a heat pump, and solar panels. The kitchen has proper crockery and cutlery. There’s a wood burner in the main living room, a separate snug with a TV, and a study with a printer and a phone for free calls.
The garden is enclosed and on three levels, with seating in different spots. It’s not a huge lawn for running about, but it’s a nice private space with mature plants.
You’re in Hawes, so the Wensleydale Creamery and a couple of pubs are a short walk. For walking, you can step straight onto the fells. The Yorkshire Dales National Park site has route ideas. For a drive, you’re about 30 minutes from Aysgarth Falls, and the Settle-Carlisle railway at Horton-in-Ribblesdale. The Lake District is about an hour, maybe a bit more depending on traffic.
Facilities are all here: WiFi, washing machine, dishwasher, parking for a couple of cars. It’s a luxury property so bedding and towels are included. Two well-behaved dogs are allowed.
