Martha's Place

This is Martha's Place. It's a shepherd's hut on our farm near Mirfield. It's just for two people.

It's a 4 Star place. That means it's comfortable and well put together, but it's still a hut. You're here for the view and the quiet. There's no TV and no Wi-Fi. We find most people are fine with that for a few days.

The hut is compact but clever. It's all one room with a bed at one end. The shower and toilet are in a proper little room inside. Outside, you have your own deck with a table and chairs. It looks right over the fishing pond. You're welcome to have a go at fishing if you bring your own gear.

You're on a working farm, so you'll see and hear the animals. We're in a hamlet, so it's peaceful, but the local pub is a fifteen minute walk down the lane.

Huddersfield is about a fifteen minute drive for shops and things. If you want to walk, you can start right from the gate. For a short drive, Castle Hill is good. You get a proper view from up there.

Within half an hour you can get to a few different spots. The Yorkshire Sculpture Park is worth a trip. Holmfirth is nice for a wander and it's the edge of the Peak District. Haworth for the Brontë stuff is about thirty minutes away.

Everything like bedding and towels is included. There's parking right by the hut. One well-behaved dog is welcome.

Some useful links if you're planning: Yorkshire Sculpture Park, National Trust Yorkshire, and the Peak District National Park.
