Stable Lodge is set on the premier Lochhill Trekking and Livery Yard and enjoys a peaceful location overlooking the paddocks and open countryside. It is beautifully decorated and has a cosy open plan living space and boasts floor-to-ceiling patio doors out to the raised decking and enclosed garden. On fine days you can enjoy dining alfresco or best of all sit back and relax in your very own private hot tub.
If cycling is more your thing than horseback, here at Stable Lodge you are close to the 7Stanes mountain biking trails at Kirroughtree and Dalbeattie Forests; Kirroughtree has some of the best technical single-track mountain bike trails in Scotland. A must is a wander around the pretty little town of Kirkcudbright only a short drive away. With its busy harbour, you can watch the fishing boats return with their catch or visit the famous Broughton House, once the home of E. A. Hornel, or experience the Arts and Crafts Trail.
A must for children and adults alike is a visit to the Dark Sky Planetarium a state-of-the-art interactive science and space-themed experience for everyone or you just may prefer the Dark Art Gin Distillery next door! Throughout the year the town hosts a diverse range of annual events from farmers’ markets, a country fair, a jazz festival, a festival of light, the riding of the marches and, of course, the spectacular tattoo, an event not to be missed. Return to Stable Lodge and enjoy your hot tub making the most of those dark starry skies – bliss!
