Kings Retreat is on a quiet street in Oakham. It's about a five minute walk into the town centre.
It sleeps six, but that's with the sofa bed downstairs. There are two proper bedrooms upstairs and one shower room. It's a 4 Star property, so it's comfortable and well looked after.
The living area is open plan with the kitchen. The owners have done it up with some exposed brick and wood. It's a nice space. The garden out the back is enclosed. We allow up to two dogs. There's a small door in the utility room for them to get outside.
Oakham is a small market town. There's a castle, shops, cafes, and a few places to eat. The train station is very close, about three minutes walk. You can get to Leicester, Peterborough, and from there to London or Cambridge.
The main thing here is Rutland Water. It's about four miles away. It's a huge reservoir. You can walk or cycle all the way round it, sail, fish, or just watch the birds. The Rutland Water website has all the details. There's a nature reserve there too, run by the Leicestershire and Rutland Wildlife Trust.
If you want to go further, Stamford is a nice town about 15 miles away. Uppingham is closer. Burghley House is near Stamford. Barnsdale Gardens are about a 20 minute drive.
For facilities: there's wifi, a washing machine, dishwasher, and a cot and highchair if you need them. All bedding and towels are included. Parking is on the street outside.
