The Tack Room is a barn conversion we finished in 2022, near Ayston in Rutland. It's for two people, one bedroom with its own bathroom. It's all on one level so there are no stairs to worry about.
The parking is right outside and level into the property. Inside, it's open plan. The kitchen worktops are lower than usual and the sink underneath is set up so you can roll a chair under it if needed. The shower is a walk-in type with grab rails.
There's a wood burning stove, which is nice in the colder months. Outside you've got a private bit of garden with a table and chairs, looking out over fields. You'll see cattle grazing sometimes. The garden isn't fully fenced, but it's a quiet spot.
It's connected by a garden gate to the property next door, The Old Stables. You can book both together if you're a larger group.
There's a pub that does food about a mile away in the village. For shops and cafes, Uppingham and Oakham are a short drive.
The main thing here is Rutland Water. It's about a ten minute drive. You can walk or cycle the perimeter path, it's 23 miles all the way round. They do sailing, fishing, and birdwatching. The Rutland Water website has all the details.
Further out, within half an hour, you've got Stamford, which is a nice old town, and Burghley House. Rockingham Castle is worth a visit too.
Facilities: WiFi, TV, dishwasher, washing machine, bedding and towels are included. There's an electric vehicle charger. We accept up to three dogs.
