Big Drift Barn :
Big Drift Barn is one of a pair of converted barns on our farm, just outside the village of Caldecott in Rutland. It sleeps eleven people, which makes it good for bigger groups or families. There are four bedrooms and three bathrooms.
The main living area is all one open room, with a wood burner in the middle. The bi-fold doors open onto your own garden, which has a hot tub. The views from there are across our fields and the rolling Rutland countryside.
Because it's a barn, the ceilings are high and the space feels quite grand. It's got a 5 Star rating, so everything is in good order. We've kept some things accessible, so there's a bedroom and a wet room on the ground floor. The stairs to the upstairs bedrooms are normal.
You're on a working farm, so there might be tractors about during the day. Our woodland is at the back of the property and you're welcome to use it. We can set up a campfire spot there if you like.
The local pub is about half a mile walk down the lane. It serves food. For a bigger shop, you'd need to drive to Uppingham, which is about four miles away.
Rutland Water is the main attraction around here, about eight miles off. You can sail, cycle, or walk around it. The villages nearby are nice for a poke around, and a lot of them have decent pubs. Rockingham Castle is very close if you like history, and Kirby Hall is a National Trust property just a short drive away.
The place has the things you'd expect. Washing machine, dishwasher, WiFi, parking for a few cars. It's all included. We allow up to two well-behaved dogs.
