The Old Stables is in Ayston, a hamlet in Rutland. It's a single-storey barn conversion we finished in 2022. It's on a working farm with cattle in the fields next door. The views from the garden are over those fields.
It sleeps six in three bedrooms. There are two bathrooms, both with walk-in showers. Everything is on one level. The place was designed to be accessible, so there are things like grab rails in the showers, level access from the car park, and a kitchen sink you can roll a wheelchair under. It's a Five Star property, which means it's very well equipped.
Inside, it's open plan with a wood burner. The kitchen has an induction hob and a dishwasher. There's underfloor heating, a washing machine, and WiFi. Outside is an enclosed garden with a patio area and a barbecue. You can park right by the door and there's an electric car charger.
The property is connected by a garden gate to another cottage, The Tack Room. You can book them together if you need space for eight.
There's a pub with food about a mile away in the village. For more shops and places to eat, Uppingham is four miles, Oakham is five, and Stamford is about ten.
The main thing here is Rutland Water. It's a huge reservoir about a ten-minute drive away. You can walk or cycle the path around it, go birdwatching, or do watersports. In summer, there's sailing, canoeing, and an aqua park. You can find all the details on the Rutland Water website.
Other places within half an hour include Burghley House near Stamford, Barnsdale Gardens, and Rockingham Castle. For horse riding or fishing, there are local places we can put you in touch with.
We allow up to three well-behaved dogs. All bedding and towels are included.
