The Granary

The Granary is in Braunston, which is a small, quiet village in Rutland. It's a detached barn conversion. The main living area has a high ceiling with the old beams on show. There's a wood burner for winter evenings.

It sleeps four in two bedrooms. Both bedrooms are kingsize. There are two bathrooms, one is a shower room. It's got a 5 Star rating, so it's well-equipped and comfortable. The property is wheelchair accessible at the entrance, but it's a two-storey house so the bedrooms are upstairs.

There's a fully enclosed garden, so it's safe for dogs or kids. You can bring up to two pets. The kitchen has a dishwasher, and there's a washing machine in a separate utility room. All bedding and towels are included. Parking is on site.

Oakham is the nearest town, about two miles away. It's a proper market town with shops, cafes, and a castle. Uppingham and Stamford are a short drive and have nice places to eat and wander.

The main thing here is Rutland Water. It's about a ten-minute drive. It's a huge reservoir with a path all the way around for walking or cycling. You can do sailing, fishing, or just watch the birds. The Rutland Water website has all the activity details. For wider walking, the National Trust has places nearby.

A bit further out, within about half an hour, you've got Rockingham Castle, Burghley House, and Barnsdale Gardens if you're into that sort of day out.
