The Lodge is on our family farm just outside Drayton in Leicestershire. It's a wooden lodge, detached, with its own veranda. The view from there is over our fields and the valley. You can see Rockingham Castle in the distance.
It sleeps eight people. Four bedrooms, two bathrooms. It's a 4 Star place, so it's comfortable and well-equipped. The main room is open plan with a wood burner. The kitchen has a dishwasher and a washing machine.
You're on a working farm. There are sheep and cattle in the fields around you. If you're bringing a dog, just let us know beforehand and we can usually arrange use of the paddock, unless the livestock are in there.
It's very quiet here. Good for walking straight from the door. Cyclists use the country lanes around here too.
For days out, Rutland Water is about 13 miles away. You can hire bikes, do watersports, or go birdwatching there. The fishing at Eyebrook Reservoir is closer, about three miles. For gardens, Barnsdale is good. There are a few historic houses nearby like Rockingham Castle and Burghley House.
The nearest decent-sized town is Market Harborough, about eight miles. It's got a market, shops, and places to eat. Uppingham and Oakham are smaller market towns, both worth a trip.
Facilities: All the bedding and towels are included. There's parking right by the lodge. WiFi is included. One well-behaved dog is welcome.
