Right, so it's The Lodge. It's on our farm, which is a working farm, so you'll see sheep and cattle around. The building itself is a big wooden lodge, detached. It sleeps eight. Four bedrooms, two bathrooms. It's got a 4 Star rating, so it's comfortable and well-equipped.
The main living space is open plan. There are doors out to a veranda that looks over the fields. You can see Rockingham Castle and East Carlton Hall from there, and the villages across the valley. It's very quiet. You get sheep as neighbours. If you bring a dog, you might be able to use the paddock for exercise, but you need to ask me first, as we sometimes have livestock in there.
Inside, there's a log burner for colder nights. The kitchen has what you'd need. There's a dishwasher, washing machine, towels and bedding are included. WiFi works fine. There's parking right there.
Location wise, we're just outside Drayton village. You're right on the edge of Leicestershire, Northamptonshire and Rutland, so it's good for exploring all three.
If you like walking or cycling, there are plenty of footpaths and quiet lanes right from the door. For fishing, Eyebrook Reservoir is about three miles away. Rutland Water is about thirteen miles and has a lot more going on: sailing, a beach, bike hire, and birdwatching. There's a nature reserve there with an osprey project.
For days out, you've got several historic houses. Rockingham Castle is closest and has events. Uppingham is six miles away, a nice market town with independent shops. Oakham is a bit bigger. Market Harborough has more high street brands. Stamford is a very nice stone town, about seventeen miles.
Further afield, Leicester has the cathedral and the National Space Centre. It's about a forty minute drive.
