Dicks Cottage

Dicks Cottage is in Cottesmore, Rutland. It's a thatched cottage, detached, and it's listed. It sleeps eight people in four bedrooms, there are three bathrooms. It's got a 4 Star rating.

The place looks out onto the village church. The stairs are a bit steep and the ceilings are low in places, it's that sort of cottage.

There's a decent-sized garden, fully enclosed, so it's safe for kids and dogs. We allow up to four pets. You've got a parking space right there.

Inside, it's got what you'd need: a washing machine, dishwasher, Wi-Fi, and a cot and highchair if you're bringing little ones. Bedding and towels are included. There's a BBQ in the garden for when the weather's good.

The village pub is about 200 yards away. They do food. There's a shop about 70 yards from the cottage for basics.

Rutland Water is the big attraction, about five miles away. You can sail, fish, walk, or hire bikes to go around it. There's a birdwatching centre there too. The towns of Oakham, Uppingham, and Stamford are all close by for shops and restaurants.

If you like history, there are several big houses and castles within a half-hour drive. Burghley House near Stamford is about 14 miles, and Rockingham Castle is 16 miles.
