The village is quiet and pretty, with a green and old cottages. There's a pub a short walk away. The cottage backs onto the Exton Estate, so you can walk straight out into the countryside.
Rutland Water is two miles away. You can sail, fish, cycle, or walk there. There's a birdwatching centre. For local information, Rutland Water and Visit Rutland are useful.
Oakham, Uppingham and Stamford are the nearest towns for shops and cafes. Stamford is a nice market town.
If you like historic houses, there are several within about half an hour. Burghley House is 12 miles away. Rockingham Castle is 16 miles. The National Trust has Belton House and others a bit further.
