Bakers Retreat

Bakers Retreat is in Exton, Rutland. It's a thatched cottage from the 1600s. If you like old buildings with beams and stonework, you'll like it. It looks small from the outside but it's quite roomy inside.

It sleeps six people. Three double bedrooms, two bathrooms. One of the bedrooms has an en-suite shower. There's a kitchen and a big dining room. The living room has a large stone fireplace with an open fire.

The stairs are typical for an old cottage, so they're a bit steep and narrow. Something to be aware of if you've got bad knees.

The garden is nice. There's a patio with chairs and a bike store that can take six bikes.

The village is quiet and pretty, with a village green. There's a good pub in the village. Rutland Water is about two miles away. You can walk, cycle, sail, or just go for a coffee there. It's a good day out.

Oakham, Uppingham, and Stamford are the nearest market towns. They've got shops and places to eat.

If you like grand houses, Burghley House near Stamford is about twelve miles away. Belvoir Castle and Rockingham Castle are also within half an hour's drive.

Facilities wise: there's a washing machine, dishwasher, WiFi. Bedding and towels are included. Parking is on site. No pets, sorry.
