Goosedown Lodge is out at Ponsford Ponds, near Cullompton in Devon. It's a single storey lodge, so all on one level, which is handy. It's for two people. There's one bedroom with a super king bed, or they can set it up as twins if you ask in advance. The main window looks out over one of the fishing lakes.
It's got a 5 Star rating, which in this case means it's well finished and has things like a dishwasher and a smart TV. There's a wood burner and an electric fire, so it's warm. Outside, there's a private deck with a decent hot tub. You get that to yourselves.
The site is mainly for fishing. You can fish the main pond here for no extra charge. It's got carp and other coarse fish. There's a bigger specimen pond a few minutes' walk away.
You're on the edge of the Blackdown Hills. It's quiet. For a shop or a pub, you need to drive into Cullompton, which is about five minutes away. It's a small market town with the basics.
You're well placed for getting to other places. Exeter is about twenty minutes down the M5, which is close. The coast towards Sidmouth or Exmouth is about half an hour. Both Exmoor and Dartmoor are under an hour's drive if you want proper moorland walks.
Locally, the Grand Western Canal is nearby for a flat walk. For a day out, Killerton or Knightshayes are National Trust houses within easy reach.
In terms of what's here, the listing is pretty complete. Wifi, parking, bedding and towels are all included. It's a comfortable base, especially if you want somewhere quiet or you're keen on fishing.
