Mallard Roundhouse
Mallard Roundhouse is a hut on my fishing lakes near Cullompton. It's in Ponsford, on the edge of the Blackdown Hills. It sleeps two, with one bathroom.
The round shape makes it feel different. It's all open plan inside. The bed is a zip and link super king, so it can be two singles if you ask ahead. There's a sofa, a table, and a wood burner. The kitchen has a small fridge, a microwave that also works as an oven, and a portable two-ring hob you plug in. You get the basics to cook a simple meal.
Your bit of decking is right by the water. It's quiet. The cottage has a 3 Star rating, which means it's clean and comfortable but not luxurious.
You can fish on the lake. No extra charge, just bring your gear. There are carp in there.
The M5 is about ten minutes away if you're driving anywhere. Cullompton has shops and a few pubs. Exeter is twenty minutes in the other direction.
For a day out, the south coast around Sidmouth or Seaton is within half an hour. Killerton and Knightshayes are both National Trust houses nearby. The Grand Western Canal is a few miles away for a flat walk.
You get bedding and towels. There's parking right next to it. No pets, I'm afraid.
