Coot Roundhouse Ponsford

Coot Roundhouse is just outside Cullompton, off by some fishing lakes in the Blackdown Hills. It's a round building, so the shape is unusual. You're on your own there, it's detached.

It sleeps two. One big room with the bed, kitchen, and seating area all together. There's a separate shower room. The bed is a super kingsize, but you can ask for it to be split into two single beds when you book.

The kitchen has a small fridge, a sink, a microwave that also works as an oven, and a portable two-ring electric hob. It's basic but covers what you need. You get a sofa and a TV.

Outside is a deck right by the lake. There's a table and chairs out there. It's quiet, just the water and fields.

The fishing lakes are part of the site. If you want to fish, you can do so on the pond right next to you at no extra cost. They say the carp go up to about 10lb. There's a bigger specimen pond a short walk away.

You're about five minutes from Cullompton for shops and a few pubs. The M5 is ten minutes away, so getting around is easy. Exeter is about twenty minutes by car.

Within half an hour you can be on the south Devon coast, around places like Sidmouth or Exmouth. Dartmoor and Exmoor are both about fifty minutes' drive for a proper day out walking.

Around here, the Grand Western Canal is close for a gentle walk. There are a couple of National Trust places nearby: Killerton and Knightshayes. Useful for planning a visit.

Facilities are listed. It has parking, WiFi, bedding and towels are included. There's no garden as such, just the deck. It's a 3 Star rating, so it's comfortable and clean but not a hotel.
