Tara Cottage is a brilliant eco-house in the charming seaside village of Rosemarkie on the Black Isle. Only a few minutes’ walk from the long, sandy beach, Tara Cottage makes the perfect holiday cottage for those with kids keen on spending as much time as possible with bucket and spade in hand. The long, sandy beach at Rosemarkie leads from one of the village which has a beach cafe and play area, all the way out to the Chanonry Point with its Stevenson lighthouse. The point is one of the best places in Europe to spot bottlenose dolphins from the shore. Hasten to add you’ll stand a good chance of seeing the resident pod from anywhere along the Rosemarkie beach. It’s an extraordinary spot. The village has another brilliant cafe very near to Tara Cottage that also does fantastic meals throughout the day and evening.
In neighbouring and nearby Fortrose there are even more places to eat and drink, as well as a decent size Co-op supermarket. And with the 15th oldest links golf course in the world only a short walk away from Tara Cottage, an amazing sailing club in Fortrose, and some of the best Mountain Bike Trails only a fifteen minute cycle out of the village, this base has to rival the very best. You really don’t have to leave the local area for your entire stay. However, if you wish to do so, and really we recommend you do so as you’ve come all the way to the fabulous Black Isle and Highlands of Scotland. You must get over to Cromarty for more charming village exploring and of course dolphin spotting. The NC500 touring route is only a short drive from the cottage so adventures beckon to the north and west. Many day trips can be achieved from Tara Cottage to places like Skye, Applecross, Torridon and up on the east coast to Dornoch and John O’Groats.
Inverness is only twenty minutes’ drive away and Loch Ness a further ten minutes on. Tara Cottage is not only blessed with a great location. It also has spacious, comfortable accommodation for the whole family to enjoy. Beach 1 mile.
