Blackhill Cottage

Blackhill Cottage is in Hallbankgate. It's a bungalow, so all on one level. It's detached, which means you've got your own space and no one next door. It faces the A689, so you can hear some traffic, but you're also right on the edge of everything. It sleeps two people, one bedroom, one bathroom with a good shower.

It's got a four star rating. That means it's comfortable and well looked after. There's a big old fireplace in the living room with a wood burner. It's very effective for heating the place up. There's a patio area with a small garden out the back.

Facilities wise, you've got the essentials: Wi-Fi, TV, a dishwasher and a washing machine. There's also a place to store bikes if you bring them. Bedding and towels are included. There's parking right outside.

The local pub and a restaurant are a few minutes' walk away, about 350 yards. The nearest shop for groceries is in Brampton, about four miles.

The location is the main thing. You're close to the RSPB Geltsdale reserve, which starts about a mile away. For history, you're well placed for Hadrian's Wall. Carlisle is a short drive one way, and you can be in the Lake District National Park in under half an hour. Alston is up the road, and you can easily pop into Scotland too.

We allow one dog.
