The Barn is ours. It's in Low Row, which is on the Cumbria side of the border with Northumberland. It's a converted mill barn, so it's stone built and feels solid. It's next to our house, but you've got your own outdoor space. There's a beck running by with a small waterfall you can hear from the garden. You do see deer and red squirrels around.
It sleeps four in two rooms. The main bedroom has an ensuite shower room, plus there's another bedroom with twin beds. There's also a separate ground floor wet room. That's good if you've got muddy boots or a dog.
The stairs are open tread. They're not a spiral, but they are quite steep. Something to note if you've got unsteady older relatives or little kids. The whole place is open plan downstairs.
The place is rated 5 Star. That means it's modern inside, well fitted out and looked after. There's underfloor heating, a dishwasher, wifi, and a TV. We've also put in an electric vehicle charger. Bedding and towels are included. There's parking right outside.
You're about two and a half miles from the nearest pub and village shop in Gilsland. It's a proper rural spot. Good walking straight from the door. The Hadrian's Wall path isn't far. For a longer drive out, you're about half an hour from the northern Lakes, like Keswick, or from Hexham over in Northumberland.
