Haytongate Barn
Haytongate Barn is in Lanercost. It's a stone barn we converted, detached, in our garden. It's up a bit of a slope so you get a good view over the fields. Very quiet out here.
It sleeps four. Two bedrooms upstairs, one bathroom. It's got a 4 Star rating. It's comfortable, not ultra-modern. The stairs are mentioned in the details and they're right: they're a cottage staircase. Steep and a bit narrow. Just take your time.
You're right on the Hadrian's Wall Path. You can step out the door and you're on it. The Roman Way cycle route is close by too. For a pint, the nearest pub is about two miles. The village shop is half a mile.
Lanercost Priory is just down the road. It's English Heritage. Nice for a wander. Brampton is a small market town about ten minutes' drive. Carlisle is about twenty minutes if you need a big shop or the train. Newcastle is under an hour.
The Northern Lakes aren't far. Bassenthwaite Lake is maybe half an hour. Keswick is a bit further, maybe forty minutes. Good for a day out.
It's got what you'd expect: parking here, a garden with a patio and a barbecue, a wood burner, TV, dishwasher, washing machine. Towels and bedding are included. We allow up to two well-behaved dogs.
