Darris Farmhouse is near Lochend. That's about halfway between Inverness and the top of Loch Ness. It's a big, detached farmhouse with land around it.
It sleeps nine in total. Five bedrooms, three bathrooms. There's a main house and a separate annexe attached to it. The annexe is self-contained, with its own kitchen and living area upstairs, and two bedrooms on the floor above that. It's handy if you want a bit of separation. It's rated 5 Star, so it's well-equipped and comfortable.
The garden wraps around the house. It's all enclosed, so it's safe for kids and dogs. There's even a little paddock area at the back. The views are good. You look out over fields and woods to the hills.
Inside, the main house has a kitchen with a big table, a living room with a wood burner, and a bedroom downstairs with an en-suite. That en-suite is a Jack-and-Jill bathroom, so it also works as the downstairs toilet for everyone. Upstairs there are three more bedrooms and a family bathroom. The annexe has another wood burner and a good bathroom with a freestanding bath.
You're well placed for getting about. Inverness is about twenty minutes south. Loch Ness is a few minutes west. For a day out, the Moray Coast to the east is under an hour. The Culloden Battlefield is nearby. If you want to plan visits, the National Trust for Scotland page for Culloden has the details.
The facilities cover what you'd need. Washing machine, dishwasher, broadband, TVs, parking for a few cars. It says wheelchair accessible entrance, but the main living areas are split-level and there are stairs to the annexe bedrooms, so best to check the specifics if that's important. Two well-behaved dogs are welcome.
