Darris Farmhouse

Darris Farmhouse is on the edge of Dores village, right by Loch Ness. It's a detached stone house from the 1800s, so the walls are thick. You can't see the loch from the garden, but the views over the fields and the hills are very good. The garden is enclosed, which is handy.

It sleeps six. Three bedrooms, each with its own bathroom. That's the main thing about it, really. Everyone gets their own space. One bedroom is downstairs, the other two are up. The stairs are typical old farmhouse stairs. A bit steep and narrow.

The main room downstairs is all open plan. Kitchen, dining, living area. There's a pool table at one end. It's a big room for everyone to be in. There's a wood burner for cooler evenings. The kitchen has a dishwasher and there's a utility room with a washing machine.

Dores itself has a great pub, the Dores Inn. It's about a mile's walk, maybe less. They do food. The village has a small shop for basics. Dores beach on Loch Ness is a couple of miles away. It's shingle, but a nice spot.

Inverness is about a 15-20 minute drive for bigger shops and the station. Culloden Battlefield is on that road, maybe 25 minutes. If you head the other way, towards Fort Augustus, it's proper mountain scenery. You're well placed for Glen Affric or a drive down Loch Ness side.

Facilities are all there. WiFi, TV, parking for a couple of cars. Bedding and towels are included. We can take up to two dogs. There's a cot and a highchair if you need them.
