Wickersley

Wickersley is a large detached house in Brough, in the East Riding. It sleeps sixteen people in nine bedrooms.

It’s a family place, made for big get-togethers or group holidays. There are four separate living rooms, a big dining room, and the kitchen has another table in it. The rating is 4 Star, which reflects the space and facilities.

Outside, there's a full-size tennis court and a summerhouse. The terrace is large, good for eating outside.

The indoor heated swimming pool is in its own building on the west side of the house. There's a sauna and changing rooms next to it. Dressing gowns are provided. There's also a games room and a separate fitness studio.

The property is set in its own grounds. There are private stables next door, and you can see the Humber Estuary from some of the windows.

Inside, the stairs and layout are as you'd expect for a house of this age and size – fine, but not brand new.

It’s very close to the M62, so getting here is straightforward. The train station in Brough is less than a mile away, with direct trains to London. There’s a local pub three quarters of a mile away, and a restaurant a mile away.

For days out, Hull is a short drive. The Deep aquarium is there. Beverley, with its minster and racecourse, is about 25 minutes by car. York and the Yorkshire Heritage Coast are both within an hour's drive.

The North Cave Wetlands are nearby for birdwatching. There are also good local walks and cycle routes; an information pack in the house details some from 3 to 10 miles.

For planning: Welcome to Yorkshire and National Trust Yorkshire.

Facilities included are bedding, towels, washing machine, dishwasher, cot, highchair, WiFi, and plenty of parking. No pets.
