Wickersley

This is Wickersley. It's near Brough in East Yorkshire. It's a big, detached house for a lot of people.

It sleeps sixteen. There are nine bedrooms and three bathrooms. It's got a 4 Star rating. Everything's included and it's well looked after, but it's a family home, not a show home. It feels lived in.

The place is set up for groups. There are four separate living rooms, so you can spread out. A big dining room, and another kitchen dining area. There's a games room and a separate fitness studio with a TV and yoga mats.

The main thing is the facilities. There's a full-sized tennis court in the grounds. A large terrace for eating outside. A summerhouse. And a heated indoor swimming pool in its own wing off the main house. There are dressing gowns provided so you can walk from your room to the pool, or there are proper changing rooms next to it. The pool is private, just for your group.

There are stables next to the property. You can't see them from the main house, but they're part of the view across the fields towards the Humber Estuary.

Practical stuff: all bedding and towels are included. There's parking. It has a cot and highchair. Washing machine, dishwasher, wifi. Christmas decorations are put up if you're booking over that period.

Location wise, it's just off the M62, so it's easy to get to. The local pub is about three quarters of a mile away. A restaurant is a mile. Brough train station is less than a mile if you're coming by rail.

For days out, Hull is close. You've got The Deep aquarium there. The medieval town of Beverley is about twenty-five minutes drive. It has the Minster and a racecourse. The Yorkshire coast, places like Bridlington, is within reach. York is about an hour away. Closer to home, the North Cave Wetlands are good for birdwatching. There are walking and cycling routes around the area, details of which are in the house.
