Baker's Cottage

Baker's Cottage is in Hotham village. It's old, 17th century, and it's a listed building. It sleeps six people in three bedrooms. There are two bathrooms, one downstairs and one up.

The floors downstairs are the original York stone. They're flagstones, so they're hard and a bit uneven in places. The living room is up one step from the kitchen. There's a double bedroom at the front, also up a step. The shower room between them is small, with a narrow basin.

Upstairs is different. The ceilings are vaulted and there are hand-painted murals on some walls. The main bedroom is large and has its own dressing area. The bathroom has a separate shower and a free-standing slipper bath.

The stairs are cottage stairs. They're fine, but they're steep and a bit winding, as you'd expect.

There's a garden at the front and back. The front has a table and bench. At the back, there's a raised wooden deck they call a yoga platform. You can store bikes in the outbuilding. Parking is off the road at the side.

The village pub is about 100 yards away. They do food. The nearest shop is about a mile away in North Cliffe.

For days out, Beverley and Pocklington are a short drive. They're proper market towns with shops and cafes. York and Hull are within easy reach if you want cities or racing at the courses. The North Cave Wetlands are very close if you like birdwatching. It's a Yorkshire Wildlife Trust site.

You're right on the edge of the Yorkshire Wolds. Good for walking and cycling. The coast, like Spurn Point or Bridlington, is about a 40 minute drive.

Facilities: it's got a woodburning stove, wifi, TV, washing machine, dishwasher. Bedding and towels are included. One well-behaved dog is allowed. There's a cot and highchair if you need them.
