Hillside

Hillside is a bungalow in Gairloch on the west coast. It's a 3 Star place, so it's clean and functional. The view is the main thing. You look straight out over Gairloch Bay to the Torridon mountains and the islands.

It sleeps six, or seven at a push. There are three bedrooms and one bathroom. Everything is on the ground floor, which is handy. The doorways are wide enough for a wheelchair to get in and there's a ramp, but it's not a fully adapted property inside.

There's a decent sized garden with a patio and some furniture. You can sit out there with a drink in the evening, if the midges aren't about.

You can walk to a few things. There's a pub, a restaurant, a fish and chip shop, a good butcher and a small shop. The beach and a nine-hole golf course are in the village too. Gairloch has most things you need.

For bigger days out, you're in a good spot. The road south goes to Torridon and Applecross. The Bealach na Bà pass is that way. North takes you up towards Loch Broom and Assynt, which is all big mountains and strange peaks. Ullapool is about an hour's drive north. The ferry to the Isle of Skye is about an hour and a half south, at Kyle of Lochalsh.

Stuff in the house: it's got a washing machine, dishwasher, Wi-Fi, TV. Bedding and towels are included. There's a cot and a highchair if you need them. You can bring one well-behaved dog. There's parking right outside.
