The Narrows is in Poolewe, right by the river Ewe. It's a detached house, so no neighbours through the wall. You get the garden to yourselves. It's private, but not totally cut off.
It sleeps four, in two bedrooms. Both bedrooms have their own bathroom, which is handy. It's got a 4 Star rating. It's comfortable, but it's not a show home. The wi-fi works, but it's not super fast because of where we are. That's just how it is.
There's a shop and a pub about a mile away in the village. The pub does food. For a proper beach day, you want the big sandy ones up or down the coast, which are a short drive.
The house is just off the NC500 route, so it's easy to get to, but you're set back from the road so it's quiet. You can walk straight from the door along the river or into the hills. We've seen pine martens on the picnic table outside the kitchen window. Otters are in the river, and you might see sea eagles.
It's a good spot for being outside. You can fish, or go out on the water. The famous Inverewe Garden is five minutes down the road, which shows how mild it is here thanks to the Gulf Stream. It's worth a visit.
In terms of things in the house, it's all there: washing machine, dishwasher, parking. Bedding and towels are included. We take one well-behaved dog.
