Brown Dyke Stables
Brown Dyke Stables is on our farm near Scaleby. It's a converted barn next to our house. We keep beef cattle, so you'll see them in the fields. It's quiet down the lane.
It sleeps six. Three bedrooms, each with its own bathroom, which is handy. There's also a wet room on the ground floor. It's got a 4 Star rating. It's always warm. The wood burner helps with that.
It's full of old beams and stone walls, so watch your head in a couple of places. The stairs are wooden and a bit steep, like most old barns. The garden is enclosed, so it's safe for dogs or kids. There's a barbecue out there. You look out over fields.
You're about a ten-minute drive from Carlisle. Hadrian's Wall is close, maybe fifteen minutes to some of the good bits. English Heritage has a map. Brampton is five miles for shops.
The Lake District is about forty minutes to an hour, depending on where you're heading. Lake District National Park is the site for walking routes. Newcastle and the Scottish borders are also within an hour's drive if you fancy a day out.
There's a pub a mile and a half away, and a restaurant two and a half miles. The fishing noted is local river fishing, you'd need a licence.
Inside, it's got what you'd expect: TV, wifi, washing machine, dishwasher. Bedding and towels are included. We can put up a cot and a highchair. We allow one well-behaved dog. Plenty of parking right outside.
