Old Byre Cottage is a semi-detached barn conversion, next to one other cottage called Fell View. It's on a quiet lane outside Boltonfellend. The views are good, just fields and fells.
It sleeps six. Three bedrooms, two bathrooms. One bathroom is en-suite to the main bedroom. It's a 4 Star place, which means it's recently been done up and is comfortable. The layout is open plan, so the kitchen, dining and living area is all one space.
There are floor to ceiling patio doors that let in a lot of light. They open onto the garden. The garden is enclosed, which is good if you have a dog or kids. You can bring one dog.
The front door and the ground floor are wheelchair accessible. The stairs inside are a normal staircase, not especially steep.
Brampton is the nearest proper town, about a ten minute drive. They've got supermarkets, shops, a few pubs. Longtown is similar, in the other direction.
You're well placed for getting out. The edge of the Lake District National Park is maybe twenty minutes by car. Carlisle is about twenty five minutes, if you want a city day or the castle. Hadrian's Wall is close; you can be at Birdoswald Fort in under half an hour. The Solway Coast is the same sort of distance.
For planning days out, these websites are useful: Lake District National Park, English Heritage Hadrian's Wall, and Visit Solway Coast.
The facilities cover what you'd need. Washing machine, dishwasher, WiFi, TV. Bedding and towels are included. There's a cot and a highchair if required. Parking for a couple of cars right outside.
