Cleugh Foot

Cleugh Foot is up near Carwinley, in the very north of Cumbria. It's detached, and an old building from the Netherby Estate. The cottage is a pink colour, which stands out in the fields.

It sleeps six, with three bedrooms and two bathrooms. It's got a 4 Star rating. We had it renovated a couple of years ago, so it's in good order. The kitchen and living spaces are modern. There's a wood burning stove in the lounge. French doors lead out to the garden.

The main thing is the location. You're on the edge of the estate, looking out over parkland and the River Esk. It feels very private, with woods and fields to walk in. There's a hot tub in the garden, and a firepit area. You get some good sunsets.

You're a fair way from a proper beach, but you're close to the border. Scotland is just over the river. The Solway Coast is about half an hour's drive if you want that.

For days out, you're sort of between the Lake District and Northumberland. The Lake District National Park is maybe 40 minutes south. Hadrian's Wall is to the east, similar drive. If you walk, there's the Reivers Trail cycle route nearby.

The closest pub is a couple of miles away in Longtown. They do food.

Facilities wise, it's got the things you'd expect: WiFi, TV, washing machine, dishwasher. Parking right outside. You can bring up to two dogs. All bedding and towels are included.

Useful links if you're planning: Lake District National Park, Northumberland National Park, and English Heritage for Hadrian's Wall.
