Highgate is my place in Hethersgill. It's a detached cottage, so you're on your own. It's got two bedrooms and sleeps four.
It's got a 5 Star rating. That means it's finished to a high standard. The furniture is good quality, the beds are comfortable, and there's a wood burner in the living room. The owners leave you a welcome pack with some basics when you arrive. Dressing gowns and slippers are provided too.
The bathroom has a good shower. There's a washing machine and a dishwasher.
Outside, there's an enclosed garden that's just for you. It's private. And there's a hot tub.
Hethersgill is a quiet village. You're about half an hour's drive from the Lake District National Park. The Solway Coast and the Scottish Borders are also within easy reach. Carlisle is about ten miles away if you need a bigger shop or want to see the castle.
For days out, Birdoswald Roman Fort on Hadrian's Wall is worth a visit. Talkin Tarn is nearby for walking or a bit of boating.
