The Endeavour Lodge

The Endeavour Lodge is on the Roseberry View retreat in Great Ayton. It's one of ten lodges built in 2019 around a private lake. You look out over the water towards Roseberry Topping and the Captain Cook monument. The view is the main thing.

It sleeps eight, which sounds a lot, but it's three bedrooms. That's because there's a luxury fold-out bed in the main living area. It's good for two extra people, but it is in the open plan space. There are two bathrooms. It's a 5 Star place, so everything is new and works well.

The lodge has a wood burner for colder nights. Outside, there's a patio with a hot tub and a barbecue for your own use. Inside, there's a dishwasher, a washing machine, and WiFi. Bedding and towels are included. There's a cot and highchair if you need them.

The site itself has some shared things. There's a clear-fronted sauna you can book, which also has that view of Roseberry Topping. There's a small children's play area, a communal barbecue spot, and a little boating lake. They've also put in a dog play park, but this particular lodge doesn't take pets.

You're about a mile from Great Ayton village. You can walk it via a public footpath through the fields. The village has shops, pubs, and a famous ice cream and pie shop. The nearest pub serving food is about 600 yards away.

For days out, you're on the edge of the North York Moors. Roseberry Topping is right there for a climb. The North York Moors National Park is about a 20-minute drive south. Middlesbrough and its industrial heritage are to the north. The coast, like Saltburn-by-the-Sea, is about a 30-minute drive. For historic houses, the National Trust and English Heritage have plenty nearby.

There’s parking right outside the lodge.
